About the Founder

Welcome to HR Certified.org! Congratulations! In accessing this site and reading this, you are exhibiting commitment to your own personal and professional development in Human Resources through certification.

This site and I are 100% dedicated to providing you with the tools, resources, tips and strategies on your journey to HR Certification! Thanks for allowing me to make that journey just a little easier.

To be honest, I never would have thought in a million years that growing up in the inner city of Chicago, IL that I would become an HR professional. I, like many of you, stumbled upon this passion and profession.

Opportunities for low income, inner city youth to transition into full time employment was virtually nonexistent. This is when and where I discovered the power of networking and it’s ability to accelerate your progress in obtaining your goals. I joined a nonprofit that prepared me to understand my skills, prepared me for the interview and how to be successful in the job.

In landing that first role as a file clerk, it leads me to customer service and customer service leads me to benefits administration – my entry way into the HR profession. I progressed in the benefits administration world and wanted to take it to the next level. My goal was to transition into a HR Business Partner role, but I had to prepare!

The organization I was with supported certification and through self-study, I earned my HRCI PHR designation. Shortly thereafter, I transitioned into a HR Generalist role, was quickly promoted to an HRBP. The PHR designation was a huge component of my personal success in quickly progressing within the profession.

My next step … move into a more strategic HR role within a business. But I had to prepare! In addition to having a great mentor, I studied and earned the HRCI SPHR designation. I earned the SPHR designation, just as SHRM released their own HR certification. As a result, I had my SPHR and SHRM-SCP! (Lucky me!) I used the experience and designations to move into Sr. Level HR roles as Sr. HRBP and most recently as a Director of Human Resources.

All of this leads to …

I made my journey sound a lot easier than it really was. I hear from other professionals everyday on how DIFFICULT it can be to:

  • Enter the HR Profession
  • Enter another branch of the HR Profession after being a specialist for so long
  • Getting Promoted AND/OR
  • Solidfying my seat at the table where decisions are made

HR Certification made this and more possible for me! I have dedicated myself in helping others also obtain HR Certification through in person instruction, volunteerism and mentorship. In addition, the HR landscape has just become much more confusing. There are multiple certifications from multiple providers. Which should I pursue and how should I best prepare?

Our Purpose & Commitment: To provide you the tools, resources, tips and strategies you need to obtain “those letters” next to your name!

A passion of mine is teaching and helping others in the best way I can. I look forward to partnering with you in making this the premier site for all things HR certification and advancing the profession.
